about

"Odessa" shows the definition kosma has for "nu spectrums in jazz". This tune is not about the flavour of the month, it´s about full spectrum jazz music! Highly influenced by east european jazz music. He takes the analogue feeling of the 70´ties and turns it into the year 2001. From the first note on you will recognize the trademark in sound and composition of Kosma. It´s one of the most valuable and intensive tunes he ever made. Odessa has been around as dubplate for quite a while. it´s already been featured on recommended radio-shows, such as Gilles Petersons Worldwide, and listed in dj´s charts of Jazzanova, Michael Rütten/Soulpatrol, Karl Injex and others... . The now released Version is a special 12" edit. There will be a full length Version on the album which is scheduled for autum 2001.

The flipside features an adaptation of the same value by Peter Kruder, who takes the vocals from the original and turns them into a respectful "darker" interpretation of Odessa. it´s a reference from someone who really is able to understand and translate Kosma productions and complex composition work in his own style. A very unusual but sensitive work of Kruder, - going beyond limits!
