about

I really don't understand why these guys call themselves Marschmellows. Please do note the German spelling with the "Sch". If we want to go into the spelling thing in order to get an insight on the roots of this expression we have several different possibilities: "Marsch" means "to march" as in the army or marching band. This is a thing which I would suggest we leave in the past. Let's go for the more English approach or rather American meaning towards this Marshmellows thing. Marschmellows are very soft, sweet, white and elastic. The last quality would actually be the most important in defining the kind of music you are going to find on a Marschmellows record. Or let's put it into the words of Thilo Kraft "Der Kraft" (German for strong, has nothing to do with the creamcheese!) and Jörg Rosenbaum, also known as "Wicked E" from the Marschmellows. "We try to keep an eye on the quality and not the genre of music. It's rather boring just to produce one style of music".

For anybody trying to describe their music it's a real pain. They don't want to be categorized. So what should I tell you? An amalgamation of different styles, firmly rooted in clubmusic history, including Dub, Funk, Old School Rap, House. Funny enough Thilo and Jörg have been through more, meaning classic music, Heavy Metal and Punk (oh my God) and have been djing together for over 10 years.
